We had 145 marchers, our strongest showing ever for this year’s parade despite the record setting heat; so kudos and thanks to everybody who made the trek to support progressive government and Democratic values. We also got great response from those along the parade route. Many people expressed support for us; even among those who didn’t, you could tell that they were impressed by the strength of our contingent. There were some very worried Republican supporters left in our wake.
We would also like to thank the Obama for America campaign and the Virginia Victory 2012 coordinated campaign for their support and strong contingents. Also in the parade were Governor Tim Kaine, candidate for the U.S. Senate; Rep. Gerry Connolly, 11th CD; Adam Cook, candidate for the 1st CD who also had a large group of family and other supporters; Brian Moran, chair of the Virginia Democratic Committee; and Earnie Porta, Mayor of Occoquan.
Special kudos to Jane Touchet, co-chair of the PWCDC outreach committee, and all the other PWCDC members and volunteers who worked so hard to make both the parade and the Family Fun Day booth a great success.
While there is still a lot of work to be done, we can all be proud of what we have accomplished so far. If we keep it up, we will deliver Prince William County for President Obama, Governor Tim Kaine, Gerry Connolly, Adam Cook, and Kristin Cabral in November, and we are well on the way to our long term goal of turning Prince William County permanently blue and a place where there is opportunity and a high quality of life for all; a place that anyone would be proud to call home.
